Hi, I’m Natalie and I’m a shopaholic. I spend waaay too much money on clothes, but I love them! If you’re like me, obsessed with clothes and on a budget, I bet you’ll fall in love with thrift shopping.
Have your needs in mind
Take your time looking through EVERYTHING… even the men’s section, ladies!
Try it on even if it looks really freakin’ weird
When I go into a thrift store I usually look for basics: jackets, denim, sweatshirts. These articles of clothing can get pretty pricey at regular stores, so you’ll save a lot by purchasing them at the thrift store instead.
Thrifting turns some people off because there’s an overwhelming amount of things to through, or used clothing just grosses them out. But you just need to take your time… and a chill pill. Used clothes won’t kill you. It may look like a bomb went off in the place, but there are definitely hidden gems in there, so don’t give up!
Lastly, don’t be afraid to try things on. If something grabs your eye, bring it to the dressing room! You could look freakin’ amazing in that ugly grandma sweater, just give it a try!

MY FAVORITE THRIFTED PIECES
Jeans are always a hit or miss at thrift stores but I found these beautiful Levi’s Jeans hidden in the racks at Beacon’s Closet on West 13th Street in Manhattan. They’re the perfect high rise mom jeans. And the best part… only $25! Levi’s sell for up to $200 at some stores!
This is 100% my favorite clothing item in general, but also my favorite piece of clothing I’ve ever thrifted. Whenever I wear it I get compliments and people ask where I got it! I purchased this patchwork denim coat with a shearling collar at Buffalo Exchange in Brooklyn (504 Driggs Ave). I believe this was around $30, which seems a bit “expensive” for a thrifted piece but it’s a super nice jacket and I wear it all the time and it has no signs of damage!
Black Silk Dress
Another great purchase from Beacon’s Closet is this beautiful, black silk dress. It has a decently deep V-neck that gives the illusion of a wrap dress. There is also lace-up with grommet detailing along the side. This dress is sexy but also classy. I love the structured soldiers as well. I believe someone hand made this dress because there isn’t a tag!
Calvin Klein Crew Neck
My family goes to Long Beach Island every summer and a few years ago we discovered the Old & New Shop in Stafford Township, NJ. This place is insanely cheap. I’ve never really gotten lucky with trendy name brands at any thrift store, but during this particular visit I found a men’s Tommy Hilfiger sweater, a Nike hoodie, and this Calvin Klein Crew Neck for a total of six freakin’ dollars (EXCUSE ME, WHAT!!) This is totally something you would see at Urban Outfitters. It’s super comfortable and easy to throw on with high rise jeans and converse.
Coach Penny Loafers
I had to include these to mention Augusta Mae Boutique in Cranford, NJ ;) They have the best consigned name brand clothes, shoes, and handbags! These Coach Penny Loafers were in PERFECT condition, in fact never even worn. Check out their consignment for 50% off now!
